Mirrorball Gallery is proud to present a new solo exhibition by abstract painter Caroline Young, opening with a celebratory reception on Friday, December 6th at 5 PM. All are invited to join us as we unveil a body of work that radiates intuition, wonder, and the quiet electricity of discovery.

Caroline Young’s paintings invite viewers into a world where color becomes a living, breathing force—moving across the canvas in conversation with shape, line, and space. Often, these interactions reveal subtle echoes of human or animal forms, encouraging each viewer to imagine their own stories within her compositions. At the same time, Caroline paints the stories that guide her: those rooted in mystery, nature, spirituality, wilderness, and the untamed places she longs to roam. As she says, she travels as she paints.

Working from a deeply intuitive place, Caroline’s process unfolds in a meditative state where time seems to dissolve. This fluid approach allows for a freedom of expression that is both visceral and deeply present. She embraces—indeed, seeks—the moment where thought and feeling collide. As her artistic hero Brian Rutenberg writes, “Art happens when the intellectual and visceral collide head-on at 200 mph; when thinking and feeling smash so violently into one another that they fuse into a third thing.”

For Caroline, painting is an ongoing act of exploration, a lifelong commitment to remaining a student of her own curiosity. She welcomes the unexpected, often surprised by the images and energies that rise through her work. She resonates with Michael Mew’s belief that “the meaning of a piece often becomes apparent only in the end. It’s like finding a secret message you unknowingly sent yourself.” In her studio, each canvas becomes exactly that—a surprising message, a revelation, a continuation of a conversation with the universe.
