‘First Look’ exhibition returns to Mirrorball Gallery

TRYON—Mirrorball Gallery recently announced the return of its second annual First Look exhibition. The exhibition will offer an exclusive preview of select works from the 40th Annual Penland School of Craft Benefit Auction, showcasing pieces from some of the most exciting craft artists and makers working today.

“This special ‘first look’ gives collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts early access to an exceptional selection of works that will be featured in Penland’s signature benefit auction—one of the most celebrated craft events in the country, supporting the nation’s oldest and most revered craft school, now approaching its centennial,” said Alexander Page, founder of Mirrorball Gallery. The exhibition spans a range of disciplines, including glass, ceramics, metals, textiles, photography, and more. It highlights the diversity, innovation, and excellence that define Penland’s creative community. Coinciding with First Look is the gallery’s concurrent exhibition, Iron Pearls, spotlighting the iconic work and life of renowned blacksmith Elizabeth Brim, known for her whimsical yet technically masterful steel sculptures. The exhibition serves as a fundraiser for an upcoming documentary film about her life and legacy, directed by E. Vincent Martinez.
